Back Flash On A First Day High

It was an early morn
An ordinary day for some
Special occasion for couples
A big event for newly hired
And etc.
But for me
Just a waste of time

Carried by the fast wind
Sitting with new ones
Just saw things on straight lines
Not clear not distinct
And everything whatever
Just sounds nuisance

Oh no!
Manong driver stopped
I pushed myself
Go! Hop out!

What now?
I was in front
Standing...
Don’t move
And pined
No! A shoe lock
Sounds better
Ten meters
Not bad

Heads up
When I faced it
Why it’s very bright?
Why it has a big smile?
Why it’s very welcoming?

Hate the gate
Wanted to crashed it
I hate to step in
Wanted to turn around
But mostly
Hate myself
I love the school
in the end

Why Not (Mirror, mirror on the wall…By Butch Hernandez)

It is sad to know that no presidential aspirants recognize how to improve our educational system. As a pro- education reform supporter, I don’t say that they should focus on this side only because I do also know, there so many problems to solve inline. And it’s not easy to create ways to solve different issues but this single idea can make a big change. Good education is a must because from a fresh mind, may burst a rightful solution. Yes, our candidates should take their seats, listen and think over this thought.

Reforming our education system is very hard to put in order. There so much to consider including the guidelines or component that was given by the Business Round-table (BR), so for us to have smart labors, for the country to benefit, why not.

In other country like China, at a very young age, children were already aware how being in school is important because they already knew it right after they leave their homes. The children knew that they should seriously take it. Parents have cultured their kids this way. Nowadays, their kids were already ahead, not just ours but particularly beside the U.S. The participation of their government in this aspect proves that the people are cherished, that they- their knowledge- are vital. They believe that they are the tools to the growth of their country and the solution to the world’s so many problems.

The literacy rate of our country is alarming and this shows that our system is not that enough to create answers. The attention really lacks. What education can give is infinite and it can open so much doors. As everyone may always say, you can’t buy or take away the knowledge from a person. Aside from health, knowledge is also wealth. I don’t only witness it but continuously experiencing the fact. Education truly matters.

Not Off the Limit

People may think I’m crazy but I’ve always fantasized whenever I’m on a plane that I’m heading to a place I can’t even pronounce but I had no illusion about how much I have on my pocket. Well, the lack of money has never stopped the truly determined person to reach his dreams, right.

Anyway, for the past forty eight hours, my life has been a straight researcher. I woke up in the morning, after eating, I opened the CPU, connect to the internet and then start typing jumbled words, numbers and even phrases to find good result. Because I’m not pleased, I went to Mr. Encyclopedia and to other information bank. I walked my hands, pages to pages, on fact lists and I found nothing nice. Excluding my thesis works, magnifying printed words in books and “googling” my birth date was really frustrating. Even Bing and Yahoo have the same web results.

I was so excited to know what happen within the twenty- four hours. I really want to discover what the day partially says about me or may relate about my personality. Well that was the first feeling I had but not after, after and after. The day on my birth date, January 18, 1988, a domestic airliner with engine trouble crashed near Chungking (SW China), killing all 108 people aboard. Obviously it was a drastic event and as I read and search the supporting information, either I get drowsy or two times drowsy. No reason to neither be excited about nor celebrate with… except of course on my personal reason. I do search people’s name that was born on the same date but their all not that familiar in general so I don’t waste much time on them. One thing I noticed, a common denominator that I don’t have, their all dead.

Hmm...the relevance, the first thing that puffed in my head was I just love to ride plane, travel as much as opportunity is present. I would not sacrifice today’s freedom for a future that will always uncertain after knowing the scary fact. Anyway I know it will not happen to me. I still want to see the world, plan for it and do it as soon as possible.

Ok, going back to the relevance thing, I don’t have a Chinese blood. I never been to China, so I can’t think of anything related more to the event. A close item I can share was I knew some Chinese young people, not just one but five. They were good friends of mine. I had a chance to met and worked with them last six months ago and anyhow I got little glimpse how China works and how it looks through our simple and “own made” sign language conversations. Recently when we chatted, I had a chance to asked one of them about the incident. The best part of the conversation was she even doesn’t know what the incident was. Really, always, she- they were helpful when they’re quite.

What else? I want to drive a motorbike like as if I’m flying. Though I have my father’s yes, my mother automatically opposes and I understand it clearly. Why, because I almost had a crash and she freak out when she saw it. I’m not that close to accident, right.

To be off is not my option. I will ride it again, one of these days.

you can't just dictate everybody's mind
it's hard to cross...
tap their young thoughts and say...
hey be proud!let's go!
and how I-WE wish and pray they sit down,hear,think,listen...
and open their hearts (sigh)

still i believe...in time it will be notice!

Puerto Princesa City - The challenge for the immediate and foreseeable future is how to meld the disadvantaged and advantaged parts of the urban area into a functional whole, while uplifting the underdeveloped areas but retaining the ability to draw sustainability for the common fiscal base from the more developed areas. Unfortunately the task will not be easy.

If I’m not mistaken, one of the messages of U.S President Obama was about saving the (our) planet makes economic sense. And now, in the height of the Global Warming issue, it is good to know that people are continuously discovering ways and means to prevent this alarming effect. The Green Soul Shoes, though not originally an idea of Juan dela Cruz, still he’s a part of this achievement.

Innocence Step

September 26, 2009 surely a day I’ll never forget.

It is a routine for me, same with my classmates (I guess) to compile ourselves and burn our eyebrows in front of the computer and drawing table at ate Nanette’s house during weekends. While stepping up our requirement, our thesis proposal, I never thought that a breath breaking history will unfold the Philippines in a not- so- ordinary day. We’re much not aware that time of the news that Bagyong Ondoy was on the move to take over the metro and surrounding cities and suburban areas.

Left and right, news report said it was the worst storm to strike the country in 40 years and was equivalent of one month of rain falling within six hours. First word in my head after I heard it was “talaga?” followed by the question “ano nang mangyayari ngayon?” then everything became blank in my head, still star struck (if it’s the right words to use) while loading the stories on the television.

The result after the heavy rain and flash flood is not really a surprise, knowing the atmosphere and the laypeople’s nature; no doubt it is foreseen in the past years. This drives me to the question, when shall we be prepared on the unexpected events. Still so many reasons are continuously born and factors to consider. Who is to blame on the floods anyway?

By the time in the afternoon having no question, we just moved out on our focus and watched a Korean film entitled Innocence Step, just to refresh our minds. In spite of the boastful weather, we’re enjoying what we are watching not knowing some people outside the window are suffering- helpless. At the end of the day, the only time we found the alarums- the floodwaters indeed a chilling big picture for me to imagine and surely a traumatic experience to all the victims. The movie we merrily watched will always remind me the tragedy. Ondoy is innocent, that’s for sure. The steps that we all made in the past contribute to this event.

speech ~~

At first we are all strangers. The next time, we held each other’s hands and sang a Happy Birthday. Yesterday, we made a difference that we never imagine we can. Today we are hoping, praying for a change.
